Updated sketch of rape suspect released

This updated sketch from the Charleston County Sheriff's office shows the suspect from Monday's sex assault in West Ashley.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office released an updated sketch of a rape suspect Saturday.

The suspect is described as a 20- to 29-year-old black male of medium build, 5 feet 7 to 8 inches tall, with a gap in his front teeth.

The incident was reported to have begun outside West Ashley Primary Care at 2270 Ashley Crossing Drive about 3 p.m. Monday.

A 25-year-old pharmaceutical sales representative told deputies she was preparing to make a phone call when a stranger slipped into her Ford Escape and demanded she drive away. She said they ended up at a vacant house, where the man sexually assaulted her in the back yard then drove off in her car.

Anyone with information on the suspect can call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
