Starting Wednesday, road repair crews will be working on a project to clean and fill cracks in asphalt pavement on U.S. 17 from near Awendaw to the Georgetown County line.

The project will be happening on various sections of the four-lane highway in Charleston County starting at 7.8 miles south of S.C. Highway 45, according to contractor Remac Inc. of Freeman, Va.

Work will happen from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. through April 5 in both northbound and southbound lanes. A lane closure will be necessary to accomplish the work, Remac said.
