An S.C. Highway Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries Tuesday when his patrol car was rear-ended in bumper-to-bumper traffic on Interstate 26.
Lance Cpl. Bob Beres, public information officer for Highway Patrol Troop 6, was stopped in slowed traffic in the westbound lanes of the interstate near the Montague Avenue exit about 5 p.m., according to Maj. John Clark of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
A van drove into the rear of Beres' vehicle, causing about $2,500 worth of damage to the patrol vehicle, Clark said. Beres was taken by Charleston County EMS to Trident Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
