Hollywood -- Trident Technical College is offering continuing education courses in horse, barn and farm management at the St. Paul's Parish site.

The two-day course covers the latest information for keeping horses healthy and happy. Topics include equine nutritional requirements, horse first aid, hoof health, parasite control and communicable diseases. Barn and pasture issues are also covered, including design and maintenance, horse-safe fencing and manure control. The course is offered 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 11 and 18. The cost is $225.

Experienced equestrians or newcomers will benefit from Basic Theory of Horse and Rider, which covers training programs for both riders and their mounts. Topics include horse psychology and physiology, rider muscular/skeletal systems, horse and rider interactions, training systems, equipment and rider position. This course meets 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 2. Cost is $125.

A Stable as a Business course teaches the economic realities of running a horse business. Topics include money management, business plans, equine and business law, customer relations and services, and record keeping. The course is offered 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 16. Cost is $125.
