The Charleston Community Band will present a special Stars and Stripes Patriotic Fanfare concert this evening at Smythe Park on Daniel Island.

What: The Charleston Community Band will present a medley of patriotic music in celebration of the birth of America.

Pirates, Privateers & Buccaneers of the Carolinas

What: This exhibit tells the story of Blackbeard and other pirates, as well as dispels some old myths about pirates and what they did, developed by the South Carolina State Museum with research, collaboration and assistance from the North Carolina Museum of History, the Queen Anne’s Revenge Project of the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology and the North Carolina Maritime Museum.

When: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily through July 14

Where: Old Santee Canal Park, 900 Stony Landing Road, Moncks Corner

July 4th Celebration Paddle

What: The goal is an armada July 4th celebration paddle/social, so wear red, white and blue. This open water paddle will start from Sunrise Park and land on Cummings Point, then paddle back to Fort Sumter for a walk about and snack, and then back to the launch. Life jackets are required to be properly worn at all times and kayaks over 15 feet with sealed buckheads are required. Please come supplied with plenty of water to hydrate, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat and snacks/lunch and water shoes.

What: Mayor's Night In is held the first Monday of each month and is a chance for citizens to meet with the mayor one-on-one for five minutes about any topic.
