GREENVILLE -- A Piedmont teenager has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for raping and killing an 8-year-old neighbor.

Multiple media outlets report that 16-year-old Sam Young was sentenced after pleading guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter and criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Young had been charged as an adult with murder, kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct in the June 2008 death of Dymia Janae Woody.

A sheriff's deputy found Dymia in a closet of an abandoned mobile home, hours after her parents reported her missing. She had been sexually assaulted and asphyxiated.
