SUMMERVILLE -- Photos taken by bank cameras during a holdup last week generated a number of calls to investigators, and callers' tips helped identify a suspect, police said Tuesday.
Now, police are hoping the public will help them catch the suspect.
The man seen in National Bank of South Carolina security-camera photos has been identified as Lonnie Gasque, police Capt. Jon Rogers said.
He said Gasque, 37, was last seen in the Ladson area Saturday, and is known to frequent the Ladson, Summerville and Myrtle Beach areas.
Police said the robbery took place about 2:15 p.m. Thursday at NBSC's 616 N. Main St. branch. The robber, wearing dark clothes and a baseball cap, passed a note to a teller demanding money, and left with an undetermined amount of cash.
Anyone with information on the robbery or Gasque's whereabouts is asked to call Summerville police 871-2463.
