Struggling couple in need of help to provide for 3 children

Steffanie and Deven of North Charleston struggle every day to put food on the table for their children.

She lost her job as a line cook last year, while her husband has scrambled with little success to find work in landscaping. They try to make ends meet for their young family by relying on unemployment benefits along with food they receive from a local pantry.

"We want our three boys (ages 5, 7 and 11) to receive all the support they need," said Steffanie, who is 30. "We want them to be happy and to want more for themselves."

Unfortunately, she and her husband can't do it alone.

Your donation can help a local agency make this Christmas a warm and happy one for this family by putting food on the table for Steffanie, Deven and their boys.

Since 1927, donations to The Post and Courier's Good Cheer Fund have helped the less fortunate in the Lowcountry during the holidays. The six charitable organizations sharing the funds collected are the Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission, Association for the Blind, Catholic Charities, Carolina Youth Development Center and the Lowcountry Food Bank. There are no administrative costs involved and every cent of the money goes directly to the agencies.

Send tax-deductible contributions to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Donations also may be made in person or online at
