The 13th annual health and assistance clinic for the region’s homeless veteran population begins Thursday in North Charleston.

“Stand Down Against Homelessness,” sponsored by the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, provides medical and dental screenings, clothing, food, haircuts and a variety of others services for thousands of homeless people, primarily vets, in the greater Charleston area.

The event will be held Thursday and Friday at Armory Park off Lackawanna Boulevard in North Charleston. Times are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days.

Last year, more than 2,000 people received assistance.
