A St. George man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing children and using a Taser and pepper spray on them.

Mark Carlisle Childers, a 24-year-old resident of South Parler Avenue, has been charged with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of first-degree assault and battery, according to the St. George Police Department. 

Childers was arrested Monday after a month-long investigation, police said.

Authorities allege the victims were 2, 5 and 7 years old, police said.

"The defendant did fondle the victims as well as touch them with a handheld Taser and sprayed pepper spray in their eyes and nose," police said in a statement.

Staff with the Dorchester Children's Advocacy Center interviewed victims in the case, police said.

Childers is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on $150,000 bail.
