The State Ports Authority estimates that a barge carrying one of SPA's largest container cranes will pass under the Cooper River bridge at about 2:15 p.m.

The crane, weighing about 1,500 tons, is the second of two that the SPA is moving from Columbus Street Terminal on the Charleston peninsula to Wando Welch Terminal in Mount Pleasant. The cranes were among the tallest structures on the peninsula, and after being partially disassembled, they clear the Cooper River bridge with only about 15 feet of clearance at low tide.
