The "American Idol" judges have narrowed the field from 70 down to 42 after a round of group performances in Las Vegas. Among the remaining contestants is Charleston's own Elise Testone.

The 28-year-old teacher from Mount Pleasant performed "The Night has a Thousand Eyes" with fellow contestants Reed Grimm, Haley Johnson and Eben Franckewitz. The groups were tasked with singing songs from the 1950s and 60s.

Testone, who teaches at Music Unlimited in Mount Pleasant, is the daughter of New Jersey residents LuAnne and Victor Testone. She is a 2005 graduate of Coastal Carolina University with a degree in music.

The next episode of "American Idol" airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on WTAT-TV.
