Single mother needs help to clear up debts

Teresa is a single mother of three elementary-school children. She recently found part-time work at a health-care facility, but got behind on her bills, especially a very high utility bill, while she was unemployed.

A Good Cheer Fund agency helped keep her service from being disconnected, but she's still trying to clear the debt on her bills. As a result, she worries about how she will provide winter clothing and Christmas gifts for her children.

Your generous contributions to the Good Cheer Fund can help Teresa and her children enjoy the holidays.

Since 1927, donations to The Post and Courier's Good Cheer Fund have provided more cheerful holidays for the less fortunate in the Lowcountry. Six charitable organizations -- Catholic Charities, Carolina Youth Development Center, the Lowcountry Food Bank, the Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission and the Association for the Blind -- receive every cent of the contributions, as there are no administrative costs involved.

Send tax-deductible donations to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Donations also may be made in person or online at
