Fire department vehicle collides with van

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries after a reserve chief car collided with a minivan at the intersection of Congress Street and Rutledge Avenue. The driver of the minivan was taken to a local hospital.

The aircraft carrier Yorktown at Patriots Point and the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge are visible through the transparent nose of a World War II-era B-25 Mitchell bomber, which could be seen — and possibly heard — as its two 1,700-horsepower, 14-cylinder engines powered it over Charleston on Thursday. It will be on display at Saturday's Air Expo 2011 at Charleston Air Force Base, bringing attention to the work of Disabled American Veterans.
