SUMMERVILLE -- Shots apparently rang out near Summerville High School as classes were dismissed Tuesday for the Thanksgiving holiday. No one was hurt.

School resource officers reported hearing shots from across Boonehill Road as they directed cars from the school parking lot. At least one of the officers said the shots sounded like they came from a passing car near the Tastee Freez across the road from the school.

Observers could not tell whether the shots were fired at anything or into the air, said Pat Raynor, district public information director.

Summerville police officers found shell casings behind 1130 Boonehill Road, said Capt. Jon Rogers in a news release. No suspects were identified, he said. The address, next to the ice cream store, houses a group of businesses and a church.
