MONCKS CORNER — Former Berkeley County prosecutor Blair Jennings has landed positions with both the Sheriff's Office and the 1st Circuit Solicitor's Office.
Jennings was forced to quit his Berkeley prosecutor's job after 9th Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson questioned his commitment to her administration, which oversees prosecutions in Charleston and Berkeley counties.
Both have announced their candidacies for solicitor in the June 2008 Republican primary.
Sheriff Wayne Dewitt hired Jennings as a part-time public information officer Monday. Jennings also has taken on some prosecutor duties with the 1st Circuit Solicitor's Office, which includes Dorchester, Orangeburg and Calhoun counties. Jennings was a candidate for assistant Berkeley County attorney in September, but County Council nixed the proposal.
