Police continue to look for the body of a pharmacy student from Nigeria who authorities believe jumped off the Ravenel Bridge a week ago.

On Dec. 9 about 3:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the bridge after witnesses said a woman leaped over the railing.

At the top of the bridge span, police found a driver's license belonging to Oluwatosin Oyelowo, 25, as well as a purse and keys, a police report said.

Officers also found her car parked at a gas station at the foot of the bridge in Mount Pleasant.

Her disappearance made headlines in Nigeria and stirred speculation on social media sites during the past week, but authorities believe Oyelowo was the person who was seen jumping from the bridge.

A statement on a website set up on behalf of her family thanked friends for expressions of support.

Oyelowo lived in Raleigh, N.C., after her family moved from Nigeria. She was a first-year pharmacy resident at the Medical University of South Carolina. Police, Coast Guard and S.C. Department of Natural Resources officials have been searching area waterways for her body.
