What made you go the first time? Johns Island zoning issues. “This is my 47th year of being active in community issues.”

What kept you coming back? Johns Island zoning issues and a desire to protect Bohicket Road as a scenic highway. “I’m not trying to keep development down.”

What do you think is your biggest contribution? Support for the Urban Growth Boundary line. Also, as a member of the Optimist Club, he helped found the James Island Journal. “We started our own newspaper. One of the things we were trying to do was get our message out.”

What do you want to see changed? State Sen. Clementa Pinckney lives in Ridgeland. Being closer to a senator representing the island would be better.
