The state Senate subcommittee looking at retirement reforms will hold a public hearing next week at Trident Technical College in North Charleston.

The group is looking at the state's different retirement systems, finding their short-term and long-term issues, and recommending changes acceptable to retirees, current state employees and taxpayers.

The Senate Finance Committee's Special Subcommittee on Retirement will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Trident's Building 920, at 7000 Rivers Ave. Those who want to comment are asked to call 803-212-6640 or email whitneymoon@scsenate.gov.

The subcommittee includes state Sens. Greg Ryberg, R-Aiken; Thomas Alexander, R-Oconee; Nikki Setzler, D-Columbia; Phil Leventis, D-Sumter; Darryl Jackson, D-Columbia; and Danny Verdin, R-Laurens.
