Eight residents were restrained and some of them were assaulted during two robberies Saturday morning at neighboring James Island homes, according to an incident report.

No suspects had been identified after the victims reported around 5:15 a.m. that masked black men with handguns had entered their homes on Riverland Drive, just south of Camp Road.

During the first home invasion, two victims said three masked men broke into their home, tied them up and ransacked the place, the report stated. One of them was sexually assaulted.

After that robbery, one of the assailants forced a victim to knock on a neighboring home’s window to get someone to come to the door.

In that second home, police officers found six victims.

They told authorities that two masked men dressed in black and wearing gloves had entered their home. Two of the victims were shocked with a stun gun, and two suffered head injuries, the report stated.

The victims in that second home also were restrained as the robbers stole money.

In all, about $424 in cash was taken from the two homes.

Two injured residents were taken to Medical University Hospital.
