Rescue crews were looking for a 9-year-old boy after it was reported he fell off rocks near Hunting Island on Sunday afternoon.
A 911 dispatcher notified the Coast Guard Sector Charleston operations center about 2:09 p.m. about a possible missing boy near Hunting Island Lighthouse. Family friends later confirmed the disappearance.
A crew in a 25-foot rescue boat the from Coast Guard Station in Tybee Island, Ga., an HH-65 rescue helicopter crew from Air Facility Charleston, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and Fripp Island Sea Rescue were all part of the search Monday evening.
