Report: Summerville robbery suspect called deputies to home because of argument with mother

Thorne Randall Scott Thomason faces two counts of robbery.

A man suspected of twice robbing a Summerville-area gas station was arrested Sunday because he called deputies at the height of an argument with his mother, according to a statement.

Thorne Randall Scott Thomason of Cotillion Crescent faces two counts of robbery in connection with separate incidents April 6 and Saturday at a Kangaroo on Central Avenue.

In both cases, the robber covered his face with cloth and demanded money from a clerk, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

“Thomason was identified when he called deputies to his residence for a disturbance involving an argument with his mother,” sheriff’s Maj. John Garrison said in a statement. “Responding deputies recognized him from footage taken by surveillance photos of the gas station robbery.”

Thomason admitted to the robberies, according to Garrison.
