MONCKS CORNER -- A registered sex offender will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury found him guilty of sexually abusing three children.
The jury found Ronald Lee McCauley of Summerville guilty of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, three counts of unlawful conduct toward a minor and two counts of lewd act upon a child, according to a statement released by the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
Circuit Judge Kristi Harrington sentenced McCauley to three terms of life without the possibility of parole.
According to testimony, McCauley befriended the children's mother, who allowed him to baby-sit even though she knew he was a sex offender.
One child told the mother about the abuse, but she allowed him back into the home, according to the solicitor's office.
The mother faces three counts of unlawful conduct toward a child. Her case is pending.
