The Charleston Promise Neighborhood, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the community in a 5.6-square-mile area, has received a $10,000 donation from SunTrust Bank.

“We recognized early on that the only way we were going to make a meaningful impact in the community was through thoughtful collaboration with businesses and other non-profit organizations that are already committed to the same goals,” said Bill Hewitt, board chairman for Charleston Promise Neighborhood. “We are very thankful to Mark Lattanzio and the SunTrust family for their faith and support in our organization.”

The Charleston Promise Neighborhood encompasses the attendance zones of Mary Ford, Sanders-Clyde, James Simons and Chicora elementary schools, and its goal is to make those schools among the best in Charleston County by 2016.
