Two people were injured Wednesday morning and transported to the hospital following an accident between a CARTA bus and another vehicle, Charleston police said.

The accident occurred in front of the IHOP restaurant at 1521 Savannah Highway, said police spokesman Charles Francis. The two individuals, whose statuses were not immediately known, were taken to Roper St. Francis Hospital.

The accident was reported just after 8 a.m. CARTA said in a tweet that commuters who ride the 40 route departing from Mary Street had experienced delays.
