A disabled vehicle resulted in the discovery of chemicals by a Summerville police officer and a motorist’s arrest this morning, authorities said.
Capt. Jon Rogers of the Summerville Police Department said the situation began around 8:15 a.m. when the officer checked out the vehicle in the 400 block of North Cedar Street.
“The vehicle contained several chemicals indicative of producing methamphetamine,” Rogers said in a statement.
The driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Dustin Lane, faces charges in connection with manufacturing meth, Rogers said.
Hazardous-materials experts were called to the scene as a precaution.
The incident affected traffic in the area and near the Summerville Public Health Clinic at 500 N. Main St.
