Mount Pleasant -- Police are asking for help from anybody who may have seen someone toss a kitten from the Ravenel Bridge on Wednesday morning.

Capt. Carl Ritchie said the kitten died shortly after a visitor found it on Waterfront Park about 8:30 a.m.

The woman told police she heard what sounded like a car horn on the bridge, followed by a thump by the picnic tables. The kitten struck an awning above the tables and then landed on the ground, Ritchie said.

The woman took the kitten to a local veterinarian's office, where it later died.

Ritchie asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the police department at 884-4176.
