Police have identified a man killed when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle about 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Folly Road.
Stephen "Bryan" Budak, 53, of James Island died of massive blunt trauma, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kelly Myers said Monday.
A 2008 GMC vehicle that struck the bicycle had front-end damage, according to a Charleston police incident report.
The driver of the GMC, Jacob Andrew Stone, 25, of Folly Beach, was charged with driving under the influence, police public information officer Charles Francis said. Investigators determined that Stone was not at fault in the accident, Francis said.
Budak was attempting to cross the road when he was struck. Francis said the bicyclist rode into the path of the GMC.
