WALTERBORO -- Colleton County Sheriff's investigators have charged two men in connection with a drive-by shooting last week on Ritter Road.

Deputies late Sunday charged Lennon Jerrod Colleton, 21, of 159 Lansing Lane in Walterboro and Rodreques Torrez Johnson, 21, of 77 Blue House Road in Yemassee with assault with intent to kill, according to Colleton County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Ted Stanfield.

Stanfield said more charges are probable.

Deputies were called out to the Ritter Road home at 1:48 p.m. Friday after residents reported that shots were fired from one of at least three cars that drove by the house.

Several rounds penetrated the house, but nobody in the house -- including a 6-month-old baby and 8-year-old child -- was hurt. Stanfield said one of several people standing outside of the house returned fire, shattering a window in a red Chevrolet Cavalier.

Deputies recovered the vehicle nearby on Blue House Lane. No one inside the car was seriously injured.

Stanfield said investigators think the shooting was linked to an ongoing dispute between two groups over a domestic issue and a separate issue involving a dog.

It is not thought to be gang-related, he said.
