Authorities have arrested a North Charleston man suspected of shooting and killing another person in March.

Damion Kareeb Brown, 21, of Terry Drive, was arrested Tuesday when detectives, Charleston County sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals responded to Citadel Mall in West Ashley.

He is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Police allege he shot and killed 41-year-old Terrance Jones on March 10.

A man found Jones' body on a wooded path behind South Surrey Drive, across from Atlas Street in the Dorchester Terrace neighborhood. Jones, a North Charleston resident, suffered a gunshot wound to the back of his neck. Police said his wallet, cellphone, phone charger and a bicycle were on the ground next to his body.

Residents reported hearing gunshots about 45 minutes before police were called.

Brown is expected to appear in bond court Wednesday morning, police said.
