A 57-year-old man died Thursday when his car left Red Bank Road, struck a curb several times and then hit a van in a driveway, authorities said. Frank Herriott Jr. of Goose Creek was pronounced dead at the scene, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said. He said a medical issue may have caused the accident, and the S.C. Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office are investigating. He said Herriott’s Oldsmobile was headed toward Goose Creek on Red Bank Road, about 2:20 p.m. near North Rhett Avenue, when the car ran off the right side of the road. The Oldsmobile bounced over curbs and then struck a Chevrolet van in the driveway. It was not immediately known if the van in the driveway was moving at the time, Salisbury said. Salisbury said some occupants of the parked car were injured and taken to a hospital, but the exact number and their conditions, were not known. Herriott was wearing his seat belt, Salisbury said.
