MOUNT PLEASANT -- Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum is open again.
The waterfront tourist attraction closed Sunday for a three-part $1.1 million project that included returning the World War II destroyer Laffey beside the aircraft carrier Yorktown, relocating the submarine Clamagore to a berth near the marina and upgrading and replacing aging utilities.
Patriots Point reopened Friday morning, a full day ahead of schedule, Executive Director Mac Burdette said.
"We are excited to get back to business as usual at Patriots Point," he said. "We appreciate the public's patience while we brought the Laffey home and implemented these important upgrades. We look forward to welcoming everyone back."
