A Walterboro pair was arrested Tuesday after a woman led police on a chase after an armed robbery with her two children in the back seat, Colleton County Sheriff George Malone said.
Malone said Sterling Singleton, 20, robbed a 64-year-old woman on Jones Swamp Road after she had just cashed a check. Then he jumped into a small red Pontiac that Larvata Levine of Walterboro, 22, was driving with her 2-year-old and 4-month-old children in the back seat, the sheriff said.
A deputy spotted the car and ordered her to stop, but she fled and led officers on a chase through the city before being cornered in a dead-end street, Malone said.
Levine and Singleton were charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, failure to stop for a blue light and siren, two counts of child endangerment and disregarding a stop sign.
