Police investigators released little description of the vehicle they think fatally struck a bicyclist, then drove away early this morning in West Ashley.

The wreck happened about 1:30 a.m. in front of the Best Western at Savannah Highway and White Oak Drive, according to Cpl. Fred Bowie of the Charleston Police Department. He said the original call was about a person who was found lying in the road.

Bowie said the details about the hit-and-run crash were “nothing concrete.”

“They’re thinking it was an SUV that was traveling southbound,” Bowie said. “We don’t have anyone in custody.”
