Both lanes along S.C. Highway 61 at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston were closed for several hours Monday following a single-vehicle wreck that killed one person, authorities said.

The crash, which is being investigated by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, was reported shortly before 9:40 a.m., said agency spokesman Capt. Roger Antonio.

Antonio said the driver, a male, drove off the road and struck a tree. He was the only person inside the car.

The deceased has not been identified.
