North Charleston police released surveillance photos Thursday of a man who wielded a knife and wore a Halloween mask while robbing a liquor store last week.

The robber fled with an undetermined amount of cash in the 1:30 p.m. Oct. 27 holdup at Carolina Spirits, at Rivers Avenue and Otranto Boulevard, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

He said the robber was described as a young, dark-skinned black man, about 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet, with a medium build, wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, and a rubber Halloween mask.

A clerk told police the robber walked in an aisle, then came behind the counter. The clerk saw a knife in his hand as he demanded money, then took a cash bag from a cabinet and the contents of the cash register, a police report states.

The robber was last seen on foot outside the store.
