North Charleston man wanted in Success Street shooting is arrested

Torren “Tezo” Eady was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a deadly shooting.

A 19-year-old was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a deadly shooting in which a gunman fired at a group of friends outside a North Charleston apartment building.

Torren “Tezo” Eady of Leland Street, which is near the Success Street apartment house, faces charges of attempted murder and murder.

A North Charleston Police Department report says a man walked up about 11 p.m. April 6 and shot several times at people who were “hanging out” on the front steps of 1904 Success St.

A bullet struck one victim in the leg, an injury that was not life-threatening. Adrian King, 21, was hit in the head and later died of the wound.

Eady has only one arrest in his history in South Carolina: for failure to appear in court on a traffic offense in November 2010.

Police investigators said he had been arguing with members of the group earlier in the evening when they helped his child’s mother retrieve the child from him.

Police officials named him as a suspect soon after the slaying. Officers arrested Eady at a home on Ridgebrook Drive, according to department spokesman Spencer Pryor.

He is scheduled to face a judge during a bond hearing tonight.
