The city of North Charleston plans to rename part of University Boulevard, but it is saying no way to renaming another street “No Way.
The city’s Planning Commission met earlier this week to review both requests and voted to name the frontage road portion “Old University Boulevard,” city spokesman Ryan Johnson said today.
The other case involved a developer frustrated by several attempts to rename a dead-end road in an exclusive waterfront neighborhood. Rick Pennoyer, CFO of the Maverick Co., asked to rename a street now known as “Bonnie Marie Way” into “No Way.”
The commission said no to No Way.
“Some of the members of the commission felt that it didn’t blend well with the other street names in the neighborhood,” Johnson said.
