Two banks were robbed Nov. 28. Authorities said two men held up First Citizens Bank on S.C. Highway 162 in Hollywood about 12:30 p.m.; and one man netted money at 1:47 p.m. from First Federal Bank at 7850 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. A search in West Ashley turned up no sign of a man who robbed a Wells Fargo Bank on Thursday afternoon. The bank robbery is the fifth in the greater Charleston area in less than three weeks. Charleston County sheriff's Maj. Jim Brady said a heavy-set white man, likely in his mid 50s and with a gray beard, at 2:23 p.m. held up Wells Fargo at 1776 Ashley River Road. The robber, who was wearing a dark grey polo-type shirt, a baseball cap and sunglasses, implied he was armed but never actually showed a weapon. The man was last seen on foot after the holdup on S.C. In the Hollywood robbery, the suspects were both described as black and about 6 feet tall. One wore a black sweatshirt hoodie and blue jeans, with something white over his face. The other man wore CPDev darker jeans with a design on the left thigh area and a gray-and-black coat, gray hat and half a ski mask. They were last seen running toward Dixie Plantation.

In the North Charleston holdup, the suspect fled on foot and then on a bicycle. The bicycle was recovered behind a business. The suspect was described as black, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, a black mask and carrying a black backpack, police said.

About 10 a.m. Nov. 14, a man described as black and about 6 feet tall, wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt under a dark hoodie, robbed First Federal Bank at 1011 Harbor View Road on James Island.

Police made an arrest after the 9:30 a.m. Nov. 11 robbery at First Reliance Bank on Cumberland Street in Charleston. The suspect, Pelzer Tracey Quarles, 48, of Norwood Street, North Charleston, crashed his car in North Charleston while being followed, police said.

Quarles is charged with entering a bank with intent to steal, Charleston police said.
