Police officials at the Medical University of South Carolina have asked for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected in a “bold” theft at a downtown research facility.

Sgt. Roger Owens of the MUSC Public Safety Department said the incident Saturday afternoon was caught on surveillance cameras at the Walton Research Building at 39 Sabin St.

A man entered an office and stole an iPod, cash and two credit cards, Owens said. The credit cards were later used to make several purchases throughout the Charleston area, he added.

“It was so bold,” Owens said. “There were security cameras all over this place.”

Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call Owens at 792-4196.
