A man was stabbed in the arm and cut several times during an attempted robbery Friday in downtown Charleston.

The man, 25, told police he was walking near Meeting and Huger streets when a man approached him, put a knife to his back and said, "Give me what you got," an incident report said.

It said the victim tried to run, but the stickup man grabbed his shirt and stabbed him in the upper arm with a steak knife.

The man also suffered small cuts to his hand and neck, the report said.

The robber was described as black, age 20 to 25, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds with a stocky build. He wore black clothing, and his hair appeared to be in twists.
