HANAHAN -- A man killed Sunday when a train struck his car was identified Thursday as Miguel Zelaya Raudales, 39, from North Charleston.

Raudales, originally from Honduras, died when the train hit the stopped car at the Mabeline Road crossing.

It took several days to locate and notify Raudales' mother in Honduras, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said.

He said arrangements are being made to send the body to Honduras.

A southbound Amtrak train hit the car at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, cutting the car in half and killing the driver, Salisbury said.

Witnesses told authorities that the car was stopped on the tracks when the crossing warning arms came down.
