A robber ripped a man's religious necklace from his neck Tuesday in West Ashley.

The 22-year-old was walking out of the Pantry store on Savannah Highway about 9:30 p.m. when a man put a black revolver to his side and grabbed his $500 gold necklace with a Jesus charm, a police report said. The robber left in a dark-colored Chevrolet Caprice station wagon, which the victim followed but lost.

The robber was described as black, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with long dreadlocks. He wore jeans and a black shirt.
