A man inside a construction trailer beside a road in North Charleston was killed today when a pickup truck left the road and crashed into the trailer, the S.C. Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened about 3:20 p.m. on Hunter’s Ridge Road, near Ashley Phosphate Road, Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres said.

The name of the man who died was not released today.

Beres said the truck, driven by Gerald Dantzler, 69, of Hanahan, was on Hunter’s Ridge Road when ther truck veered left of center, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck the enclosed construction trailer. The trailer was off of the roadway, Beres added.

Dantzler was not hurt, he said.

Beres said the accident is under investigation by patrol and its Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
