A Goose Creek man died from injuries he suffered when a car he was driving collided Friday with a tractor-trailer in North Charleston, authorities said.

The wreck occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Rivers Avenue near Beaufort Street, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. The driver of a tractor-trailer pulling onto Rivers Avenue apparently failed to see an approaching car, Pryor said. The car ran under the tractor-trailer and the driver was trapped, Pryor said. Firefighters from the North Charleston Fire Department were able to free the driver and he was rushed to Medical University Hospital by Charleston County EMS.

Bernard Frost, 50, died in the hospital about 8 p.m., Charleston County Deputy Coroner Scott Ramsey said. Frost died from blunt-force trauma. As of late Saturday, no charges had been filed. The accident remains under investigation, Pryor said.
