Charleston police have charged a man with murder in connection with a year-old shooting downtown.
Police charged Darnell Seagers, 21, of Ranger Drive with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, spokesman Charles Francis said.
Seagers is accused of fatally shooting Travis Antwan Anderson, 20, on Norman Street on Aug. 28, 2010.
Francis said officers took him into custody Thursday while on patrol in the Gadsden Green public housing complex.
Police initially charged Seagers last year with obstruction of justice in connection with the shooting after investigators say he provided them with false information. It wasn't immediately clear when the charge was upgraded to murder.
Seagers is also facing an armed robbery charge from October 2010, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.
He is being held at the Cannon Detention Center.
