A Moncks Corner man has been charged with 43 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Raymond Stephen Cain, 24, of 1542 Pinopolis Road, was arrested on charges that cover sending, exchanging or soliciting images of minors engaged in sexual activity.

The charges cover events that allegedly occurred on May 18 and 20 and June 11, the State Law Enforcement Division said Tuesday.

"The defendant did this through the use of a file-sharing network," an arrest affidavit said. "Images were distributed to an undercover officer in Florida."

Cain was booked at the Berkeley County jail. It was not known if he had an attorney, and it is expected that he will be scheduled for a bond hearing.

The case was investigated by members of the S.C. Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.
