A 21-year-old North Charleston man was arrested Wednesday by North Charleston police and accused of shooting another man in May.
Dontae Nathaniel Drayton of Hackerman Avenue is charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, police Capt. Scott Deckard said. Drayton was being held in the Charleston County jail pending a bond hearing set for today.
Drayton is accused of shooting a 64-year-old man in the face in the area of Beacon Street on May 31. Police were called to the neighborhood for reports of multiple gunshots. Officers later learned the victim had arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds to his face.
