A man was charged with assault and battery with intent to kill in connection with a stabbing incident Monday on Interstate 26 eastbound.
According to police reports, vehicle driver Christopher R. Constine, 31, of Adams Run was charged in the stabbing of passenger Cary G. Ryals, 40, of Hanahan.
An incident report said the Nissan Pathfinder they were in began slamming into the median and weaving on the roadway. At one point, a tire blew out and the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road.
A fight ensued and Constine reportedly got a knife from the car, stabbing Ryals four times in the torso and four times in the head. The wounds were not life-threatening, a report said.
The two men and a third passenger apparently had been drinking, a police report also states. Bond was set at $40,000.
