Police have arrested a man they say stole a city of Charleston Public Service vehicle and then wrecked it Saturday on Interstate 26.
Charleston police charged Jerome F. Monroe, 46, of North Tracy St. with grand larceny. He was taken into custody about 1 p.m. by bike patrol officers, according to Charles Francis, police department spokesman.
Francis said the vehicle was stolen about 6 p.m. Saturday from 75 Calhoun St. It was later wrecked on I-26 near the Spruill Avenue Exit.
